GAM Investments has announced the appointment of Stephanie Maier to the newly created role of Global Head of Sustainable and Impact Investments, beginning January next year. Maier will lead GAM’s sustainable investment and ESG strategy and will be responsible for strengthening the firm’s ESG proposition for clients. Maier was previously Director for Responsible Investment at HSBC Global Asset Management. “Stephanie’s appointment represents our continued commitment to providing the investment leadership, innovation and sustainable thinking required to meet our clients’ needs,” said Peter Sanderson, CEO at GAM Investments.
Africa-focused private equity firm Alterra Capital Partners has announced the senior appointments of two recruits to lead its future ESG work. Seynabou Ba joins Alterra in the role of Senior Advisor on ESG, having previously held the position of Head of ESG for Sub-Saharan Africa at the International Finance Corporation. Ba also founded consultancy ESG Africa, advising private sector clients on ESG risk management. Rochelle Chetty joins as head of ESG, having previously served as Senior Environmental and Social Risk Manager at Standard Bank Group. Chetty and Ba will work closely to deliver ESG goals for Alterra and its portfolio companies. “ESG is fundamental to our approach at Alterra. We are delighted to welcome both Seynabou and Rochelle on board – they make one of the strongest ESG teams, not only in Africa, but in private equity,” said Genevieve Sangudi, Partner at Alterra.
