ESG Investor’s weekly round-up of new hires in the sustainable investing sector, including AXA Investment Managers, HSBC Bank Pension Trust, BeyondNetZero, Xpansiv, and GRI.
AXA Investment Managers has made three appointments in its corporate governance and stewardship team. Héloïse Courault joins the company as Senior Corporate Governance and Stewardship Analyst. Based in Paris, she will report to Head of Responsible Investment Coordination and Governance Clémence Humeau. She joins AXA IM from shareholder advisory firm SquareWell Partners where she was Co-Head of ESG Research. Alexandre Prost has been appointed Senior Corporate Governance and Stewardship Analyst. Based in London, he joins AXA IM from IHS Markit where he was a Corporate Governance and ESG Specialist. Also in London, Constance Caillet has been appointed a Corporate Governance and Stewardship Analyst. Before joining AXA IM in January 2021 she was an intern at Natixis, focusing on debt capital market origination and structuring of sustainable assets. Prost and Caillet will also report to Humeau.
The UK arm of HSBC Bank Pension Trust has appointed Emma Hunt as Head of Responsible Investment. Previously Senior Director for Client Services at Impax Asset Management, she has 25 years of experience in stewardship, ESG and sustainable investment. Until October 2020 she was a Non-Executive Director at Carbon Tracker while also heading her own advisory company, Hunt Advisory, a focus of which was supporting clients in reallocating assets towards sustainability. Based in London, she will lead development and implementation of responsible investment policy and strategy for the Trust.
Lance Uggla has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of BeyondNetZero, the climate growth equity arm of General Atlantic. He was most recently the Chairman and CEO of analytics company IHS Markit, having founded Markit in 2003. “Growth investors can play a pivotal role in advancing the tools and business models that will make the net zero transition possible,” Uggla said, adding that BeyondNetZero would continue to identify entrepreneurs on the “front lines of innovation” in this area and partner with them to scale their solutions.
ESG commodities marketplace Xpansiv has appointed Erika Crandall as its Chief Risk Officer. In her new role, she will oversee risk management across Xpansiv, including compliance, operations, information security, and business resiliency. This includes risk related to the 24X7 operation of Xpansiv’s exchanges, integrated software solutions, and various compliance programs. She was previously Chief Compliance Officer and Head Of Risk at The Reserve Trust Company in San Francisco. While there she worked on a holistic risk programme and compliance initiatives.
Jérôme St-Denis has been appointed to the newly-created role of Chief Donor Engagement Officer at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). He will be responsible for implementing a strategy to strengthen GRI’s grant financing through diversified channels, engaging with corporate donors, private foundations and bilateral funders. Previously Head of Global Resource Mobilisation at City Cancer Challenge Foundation, he has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising and advocacy, working with non-profits, aid agencies, foundations and trusts.
