The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) has developed new guidance to help companies design and implement transition strategies for a nature- and climate-positive world by 2030. Supported by 60 companies and partners, the draft guidance includes a checklist of actions to identify, assess, improve and disclose performance on aligning nature-related actions with climate-related actions. It also identifies six value chain-specific objectives for companies, including deploying resources and using credible metrics. Respondents have until 31 January 2023 to submit their feedback, with version 1.1 of the guidance between developed in early 2023 for validation with WBCSD members ahead of a public launch of version 2.0 in Q4. “Nature loss is already disrupting business as usual through material risks in operation and value chains. Pressure from governments, investors and consumers for business accountability is increasing rapidly. We urgently need to move to collective action to achieve a nature-positive future,” the report said.
