Representatives from more than 100 large companies and investors participating in annual business advocacy event LEAD on Climate 2022 are calling on US Congress meet the urgency and scale of the climate crisis with ambitious federal sustainable investments spanning clean energy, transportation, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing. LEAD on Climate has been organised by US-based sustainability NGO Ceres, with attending companies and investors collectively accounting for more than US$1.6 trillion in annual revenue and US$4.6 trillion in AUM. Participating multinational companies include LinkedIn, IKEA, Netflix, Nike and Workday. Zach Friedman, Director of Federal Policy at Ceres, said: “Some of the largest and most influential companies in the world are also among our nation’s strongest climate advocates. That’s because they know that clean energy is good for business and for the economy. This week, companies and investors will continue to lead on climate by urging lawmakers to finalise the bold clean energy package we need. As American businesses and consumers grapple with high energy prices, now is the time to double down and accelerate the clean energy transition to ensure more Americans can benefit from affordable, secure, domestic clean energy.”
