The UK Centre for Greening Finance & Investment (CGFI) has announced the appointment of Matt Scott as its first Executive Director. Dr Ben Caldecott, the Principal Investigator and Founding Director of CGFI, said: “I am delighted that Matt Scott has joined CGFI as our first Executive Director and I’m excited that we’ll be working closely together.” Scott spearheaded the establishment of the Bank of England’s Climate Hub and led the development of the UK’s inaugural Green Finance Strategy. As a Senior Director in Willis Tower Watson‘s Climate and Resilience Hub, he has also been actively involved in promoting environmental sustainability in the financial sector. Caldecott believes Scott’s appointment will facilitate CGFI’s efforts to enhance the adoption and utilisation of climate and environmental data and analytics by financial institutions worldwide. In his new position, Scott will oversee the day-to-day management of CGFI’s world-leading, multidisciplinary team. He will be based at the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group, located at the University of Oxford, which leads the CGFI consortium. Caldecott will maintain his role as CGFI’s Principal Investigator, providing oversight by chairing important committees such as the Executive Committee and Consortium Strategy Group. Additionally, he will co-head the Transition Plan Taskforce.
