Federated Hermes has hired Andy Turnbull as the Senior Investment Manager for its new UK Nature Impact investment strategy. Turnbull will be responsible for evaluating and managing nature-based impact investment opportunities as part of the portfolio construction, as well as managing strategic relationships to execute the strategy effectively. The strategy aims to generate attractive returns by investing in high-integrity nature-based solutions and nature-positive businesses across land, coasts, rivers, and sea in the UK, contributing to addressing the climate and biodiversity crises. The strategy, co-designed by Federated Hermes and Finance Earth, is scheduled to go live later this year. Turnbull previously served as the Head of Asset Management at Climate Impact Partners, where he collaborated with investors, corporates, NGOs, and governments to develop and deliver carbon-financed nature restoration projects, having been Head of Natural Capital & Sustainable Investment at nature-based manager Bidwells. “We are delighted to have Andy on board. His breadth of experience will play a key role in what is an exciting investment opportunity, generating returns for investors through the sale of ecosystem services such as carbon credits and biodiversity units,” said Robert Hall, Director at Federated Hermes. “In doing so we will support the goals of the UK Nature Impact Strategy as we aim to restore nature and biodiversity, mitigate climate change and create green, skilled employment.”
