Ten Signatories Join Finance for Biodiversity Pledge

On the first anniversary of the adoption of the Global Biodiversity Framework, the Finance for Biodiversity (FfB) Foundation has confirmed ten new signatories to its FfB Pledge. The new signatories include Aegon UK, Clear Skies Investment Management, Climate Resilient Africa Fund and the Jaguar Legacy Fund. In signing the pledge, financial institutions commit to five steps: collaborating and sharing knowledge, engaging with companies, assessing impact, setting targets, and reporting publicly on progress before 2025. Egypt-based Climate Resilient Africa Fund is the pledge’s first African signatory. The pledge now has 163 signatories across 25 countries, representing a combined €21.7 trillion (US$23.8 trillion) in AUM. The next round of new signatories will be announced on 21 March 2024, coinciding with the International Day of Forests. The foundation also launched its sixth overview of initiatives for financial institutions on biodiversity update, which included the investor-led engagement initiative Nature Action 100 for the first time. Hilkka Komulainen, Head of Responsible Investing at Aegon UK, said: “By understanding and taking ownership of the nature impact of our pension schemes, we are committed to being a force for good and using our influence to help protect the planet, on behalf of our customers.”
