Stewart Investors Backs Responsible Minerals

Active equity specialist investment manager Stewart Investors has become the founding member of the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) Investor Network. The network aims to bring together a range of investment industry stakeholders to advance responsible practices for sourcing the minerals required to power the renewable energy transition. The RMI, which is part of the Responsible Business Alliance, launched the Investor Network to better promote responsible mining and mineral sourcing, providing investors with access to due diligence tools and collaborative opportunities. “We believe that investors have a role to play in ensuring global mineral supply chains are free of human rights abuses,” said Chris McGoldrick, Senior Investment Analyst at Stewart Investors. “We firmly believe the RMI Investor Network marks an important step forward towards both influencing and improving mineral supply chains.” Stewart Investors has also launched a collaborative engagement initiative focused on tackling conflict mineral content in the semiconductor supply chain, supported by 160 signatories representing US$6.59 trillion in assets. “The RMI is very pleased to welcome Stewart Investors as the first company to join the newly formed RMI Investor Network,” said Jennifer Peyser, Executive Director of the RMI. “We value their insights and leadership as we scale the network to support the investor community and its role in driving responsible mineral supply chains and a just green energy transition.”
