Impact verification firm BlueMark and CASE at Duke University have published an impact management guide designed to drive more rigour and consistency in how asset allocators evaluate and manage private market impact investment funds. It covers due diligence and potential red flags of impact investment funds. The guide also helps highlight differences between light and high-touch engagement, taking into consideration manager’s size, the size of particular investment, and the manager’s thematic focus. Cathy Clark, Faculty Director for CASE, said: “As best practices in impact management continue to evolve, it’s important to level-set about where the market it today and where it needs to go. While we recognise asset allocators are wary of over-burdening fund managers or creating more friction points when allocating capital, we believe this guide lays out key practices for how and when allocators should engage with managers throughout the investment lifecycle.”
