The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) has released a series of venture capital-focused case studies demonstrating ESG incorporation in the sector, which draw on the experiences of investment manager and asset owner signatories. The case studies include examples of engaging in and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion activities, and supporting companies to develop and grow their ESG practices. In a paper published earlier this year, the PRI noted a lack of formal, standardised ESG incorporation in the venture capital industry, highlighting the risks currently posed by VC-backed firms and the opportunities to establish positive values and behaviours at an early stage in company development.
