Nordea Asset Management (AM) has increased the diversity focus of a gender fund to reflect evolving expectations on diversity and inclusion (D&I). It said societal demands for change in relation to improving D&I was broadening beyond just gender representation, and that diversity data disclosure is continually progressing and revealing the wider complexity of D&I issues. The Nordea 1 – Global Gender Diversity Fund has been renamed the Nordea 1 – Global Diversity Engagement Fund and will have an expanded investment universe and focus on engagement. The move comes as Nordea AM becomes a co-founder of the new Diversity Project Europe, aiming to create a more inclusive asset management industry across Europe. Julie Bech, Co-Manager of Nordea 1 – Global Diversity Engagement Fund, said: “Expanding the investment focus of this fund gives us a broader scope, which translates into broader impact. The refocusing also allows us to place a stronger emphasis on engagement in order to drive both alpha and social change.”
