Newton Investment Management (IM), a part of BNY Mellon Investment Management, has selected Nico Aspinall for the newly created role Head of Product Advocacy. The position is within the firm’s responsible investment team, as it targets the advancement of its global sustainability offering. Aspinall has previously served as CIO at Connected Asset Management, where he led the firm’s sustainable development strategy. He was also responsible for co-ordinating investment strategy, governance, and implementation as the CIO of the charitable trust B&CE. In 2016, Aspinall founded his own consulting company which advises defined contribution (DC) pension schemes on ESG integration and climate risk management. In his new role, he will have a global remit overseeing the development of the firm’s sustainable investment capabilities, as well as working with clients and industry groups offering guidance and expertise on ESG themes. Aspinall will also call on his DC pension scheme experience, being one of his areas of focus to deliver responsible investment solutions for their members.
