A list of companies with business activities in Sudan has been published for investors by the EIRIS Conflict Risk Network (CRN). The 41 companies, to which EIRIS CRN has sent out a questionnaire following the violence which began in Khartoum, Sudan last month, all have business activities in the country and have been monitored by EIRIS for the past several years. EIRIS CRN said it published the list of companies so that investors and the public feel empowered to ask questions regarding their own money and consider the ways their investments in these companies might impact the situation on the ground. “We know that there are no easy solutions for companies operating in conflict affected areas, but it is important that companies know that people care about what they do in these regions,” it said. EIRIS CRN said it would continue to monitor the conflict and share more information when there are updates. EIRIS CRN carries out research on behalf of UK-based charity the EIRIS Foundation that provides advice on ethical and responsible investment.
