The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has formed a new sustainability advisory partnership with the International Development Centre of Japan (IDCJ) which aims to support Japanese companies in raising sustainability reporting quality. The partnership will deliver Japanese language services built around the methodology of the GRI Standards, which are widely used for sustainability impacts with 87% of the top 100 companies in Japan already using the GRI Standards. This agreement will see the IDCJ deliver GRI content index services for Japanese sustainability reports, with companies submitting their reports to the IDCJ who will complete an assessment and offer feedback on how to improve and align the content index. The content index is a key requirement for GRI sustainability reports, as it enables stakeholders and users to easily access relevant information. John Knight, Head of Services at the GRI, said: “I am really pleased that, through this new partnership with IDCJ, we will be able to offer tailored support to companies that publish their reports in Japanese.”
