GRI Maps Biodiversity Standard Plans

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) will publish its updated biodiversity disclosure standard later this month. The existing standard – GRI 304 – has been amended to better align with the goals of the Global Biodiversity Framework, the European Sustainability Reporting Standards on biodiversity and ecosystems, and recommendations from the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures. Over 2,000 companies globally currently disclose qualitative and quantitative information against GRI 304. “To contribute to global goals for halting and reversing biodiversity loss, businesses needed standardised metrics and a level playing field to measure, understand, and manage their biodiversity impacts,” the GRI said ahead of a webinar it will hold to unveil the updated standard on 31 January.
