Claudia Chapman, former Head of Stewardship at the UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC), has been hired by US-based asset manager State Street Global Advisors (SSgA). Chapman joined as EMEA Head of Stewardship at the firm on 11 September. She reports into Benjamin Colton, Global Head of Asset Stewardship at SSgA. The firm has been expanding its stewardship team globally, with the asset manager listing equivalent roles in the Americas. In her previous role at the FRC, Chapman played a key role in developing and reforming the UK Stewardship Code. The code is subject to an upcoming review while the role of stewardship in the UK regulatory framework is also being conducted by the FRC in partnership with the Financial Conduct Authority, HM Treasury and the Department for Business and Trade. Prior to joining FRC, Chapman spent several years at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
