Will Martindale and Ben Wilmot have founded Canbury, a new sustainability research, data, analytics and consulting company. The new firm will work with investors, companies and NGOs to offer end-to-end sustainability services. Canbury will focus on sustainability themes including nature and biodiversity, climate change scenarios, net zero target setting, and stewardship and regulatory disclosures. Martindale spent almost three years at Cardano as Co-Head of Sustainability, while Wilmot was a Director at the pensions risk and investment management provider for just short of four years. Martindale, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Canbury, explained that the firm will “combine data, research and advice to help investors meet their sustainability objectives”. He added that sustainability teams are being asked to “do more with less” amid growing regulatory and voluntary disclosures, increased client expectations and new sustainability themes. Wilmot added that the firm will source public data sets and provide a “comprehensive assessment of a company’s sustainability risks, bringing together sustainability data with financial data. ESG data will be a “starting point” rather than an “end point” at Canbury, he added. Cardano recently confirmed the appointments replacing Martindale and Wilmot.
