EU PSF Publishes Sustainability Compendium

The EU Platform on Sustainable Finance (PSF), a body of industry experts supporting the European Commission in the development of sustainable finance regulation and guidance, has published a compendium outlining how its framework actively supports the net zero transition. The document contains concrete case studies on how sustainable finance regulations and guidance have been utilised across seven stakeholder groups, including companies and investors. To improve comparability, companies have been using key performance indicators from the EU Taxonomy for target-setting, as well as evidence to back up sustainability performance claims. Investors, for their part, have been utilising the EU sustainable finance framework to assess investee companies’ alignment with net zero targets. Asset managers are also focusing on their compliance with the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation. Although the EU Taxonomy and wider framework are working on the ground, some data and implementation challenges need further improvement to fully support financial and non-financial actors in their transition to sustainable business models, the compendium mentioned. The EU Commission will work closely with the PSF to continue monitoring the uptake of various sustainable finance tools, providing guidance to make the application of the framework “easy and effective”.
