Cyber Risks to Feature in ISS US Benchmark, Voting Research

ISS Governance, a global provider of shareholder meeting research and recommendations, has expanded its ISS US Benchmark Research and Voting reports to include cyber risk-related data. The ISS Cyber Risk Score assesses a company’s internet-exposed assets, flagging to investors the probability of them being exposed to a breach event over a 12-month period. The ISS benchmark and voting reports have previously covered companies in the S&P 500. For the 2024 proxy season, constituent companies of the S&P 400, S&P 600 and Russell 3000 indices will be included in subsequent analyses. “In light of the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s new cyber security risk management and incident disclosure rules, the coverage extension of the ISS Cyber Risk Score in our US Benchmark and Voting reports is timely,” said Georgina Marshall, Global Head of Research at ISS Governance. “[It] will help investors interested in this area to gauge the relative cyber risk of their portfolio companies and create meaningful opportunities for engagement.”
