Berson Takes Charge at FAIRR

The FAIRR Initiative, an investor network focused on ESG risks in animal protein production, has appointed Claire Berson as Executive Director. She replaces Maria Lettini, who in March last year became CEO of the US Sustainable Investment Forum (SIF). Berson was previously Executive Director at the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), an international investor-focused not-for-profit seeking to mobilise global debt capital towards climate change solutions. The FAIRR Initiative has more than 400 investor members with around US$70 trillion AUM, providing them with market data, research, tools and engagements to understand ESG risks and opportunities in the global food sector. “The global food system is experiencing unparalleled challenges, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to build on FAIRR’s influential work,” said Berson. “From net zero to nature solutions, water use to working conditions, sustainability factors are increasingly material to the future of food – and I look forward to working with the FAIRR team to ensure investors are in a position to understand and act on these issues.” Berson’s appointment follows that of Fiona Reynolds, former CEO of the UN-FAIRR supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), as President of FAIRR. “Claire’s experience growing and managing a global network of investors focused on mobilising capital to invest in the climate transition makes her an ideal leader of our talented executive team,” said Jeremy Coller, Founder and Chair of FAIRR.
