Global asset manager Aviva Investors has appointed Nick Molho to the newly created role of Head of Climate Policy. Starting in June, he will report to Steve Waygood, the firm’s Chief Responsible Investment Officer, and will develop and deliver Aviva Investors’ macro stewardship programme, which will include promoting the net zero transition at a sectoral level and engaging with government policies that will drive a just transition. “Aviva Investors is an organisation I hold in high regard, and one which has been taking material action to shape the transition towards a sustainable future from within the private sector by actively engaging with real economy businesses and financial institutions, as well as with global governments, regulators and standard-setters,” said Molho. “Such activity is critical in ensuring capital flows into the right activities in the global economy and leads to meaningful change.” Molho is joining from cross-economy membership organisation Aldersgate Group, where he led the overall strategic direction, work programme and policy advocacy activities of the group, particularly across climate and environmental themes. Waygood said: “Nick brings an unrivalled amount of expertise in this field. His experience of engaging with companies, financial institutions, regulators, governments and policymakers will be invaluable.” Aviva Investors has also confirmed with ESG Investor that Thomas Tayler has been internally promoted from his previous role as Senior Manager of the Sustainable Finance Centre for Excellence to become the firm’s Head of Climate Finance.
