15 Signatories Join Finance for Biodiversity Pledge

Fifteen new signatories – including Danske Bank, Desjardins Group and WHEB Asset Management – have joined the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge. This increases total signatories to 126, representing a total of €18.8 trillion in assets across 21 countries. Asset management firm JPG become the first Brazilian signatory to the pledge, with French sustainable neobank Helios becoming the first fintech firm to commit. The Finance for Biodiversity Foundation has also reached the milestone of 60 members collaborating and sharing knowledge on biodiversity. The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge is a commitment by financial institutions to protect and restore biodiversity through their finance activities and investments. It consists of five steps: collaborating and sharing knowledge, engaging with companies, assessing impact, setting targets and reporting publicly on the above before 2025. There will be a further round of signatories in Q1 2023. Guy Cormier, Desjardins Group’s President and CEO, said: “We need to incorporate biodiversity protection into our activities and investment decisions. Desjardins Global Asset Management and Desjardins Investments, are proud to join the Pledge, collaborate towards a sustainable economy and identify the best practices for nature preservation.”
