Andrew Otis, a Partner at Kramer Levin, has more than three decades of legal and environmental experience, including nine years at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where he participated in writing rules under the Clean Air Act, and played a key advisory role in multiple policy areas. Otis focuses on addressing the environmental remediation, permitting, compliance, climate change, and ESG needs of clients across industries, including in the commodity trading, mining, energy and insurance sectors. This includes helping clients address and mitigate environmental risks; advising on clean-ups and compliance; offering counsel on environmental issues in M&A, financings, and real estate developments; and representing clients in international arbitrations. He also guides clients in navigating ESG policy development and reporting under disclosure standards and advises clients in emissions trading markets. Otis was previously a partner in the environ[1]mental practice at one prominent international firm and headed the environmental team at another. He has also developed and taught classes in environmental policy and law at both Indiana University and Vassar College.
